Turkey Hunting is here!

Congrats to George W. the great turkey hunter. As of April 3rd, he had shot the second turkey of the season that began 4/1/09! Last I heard, he was cleaning it in the backyard....described as a huge tom turkey.

Yellow pollen is flying around thick as a snowstorm today. Aaaaaacho-o-o-o!

Too windy to hunt today, guess I'll have to clean the yard instead, lot's of pine cones and sticks down all over.

This is Holy Week, a time to remember our Saviour's death and resurrection, He who provides every blessing we have and spares us from what we deserve.

Praise Him.

Hunting Your Dinner May Become a Way of Life

March 31, 2009

Spring arrived a few days ago, along with several days of heavy rain. Seems everyone is waiting for their tax refund, or their share of the recent government handouts???

Just remember, whenever they give you something, they take away something else. Hunters are finding that purchasing ammo is hard these days. Is there really a shortage, or is GovCo putting the squeeze on us?

Anyone want to start up a manufacturing facility?

But, I digress---this started out to be about 'Hunting Your Dinner'. We're planting more than we did last year....got a freezer coming later in the week. Even a .22 can add small game to the menu. We Americans have been very blessed to have the huge variety and plenty of food supply in every grocery store. Did you ever try to imagine how you would feed your family if the current system no longer worked? If the grocery had very little to offer?

I'm not a doomsday kind of person and hope and pray that the current scare will be only that, a scare. But it does make you think.

Who said once...." Work like everything was your responsibility, but pray like it is all God's"? Or something like that.

We have lot's of new items and fun features on-line at www.ammobargains.com, plus excellant April coupon on www.suppliesforhunting.com.

See you there!

24 days till Spring!

The daffodils are blooming in the yard, and the hyacinth is poking fat green shoots out of the pot under the crepe myrtle tree where someone set it out years ago and somehow it survived!

Time to put new mulch on the beds where the camellias and azaleas grow, and clean out the fuzzy black stuff from the bird bath!

The purple pansies and pink and white cabbages are just overflowing the porch boxes. The neighbors have already begun their constant fire in the pit out back---I think it burns for at least 6 months straight---we don't know who is bringing them twigs and stuff to burn.

Yesterday Majestic Red Ruger escaped from the house and led the kids a merry chase up and down the street for the better part of an hour. Greed caught up with him as he stopped to gobble up a whole bag of puppy treats.

Turkey season will soon be here, get those turkey calls now so you can practice before the season---check out the website for several new product categories, too. We now have hunting dog training equipment, game feeders, books and videos, food processing equipment like grinders, slicers, smokers and dehydrators, camp stools and table, and water purification gear for you hunters and hikers.

In these times of tension and uncertainty, take time to exercise your faith, appreciate good friends, and renew your mind with good things.

Then get out there and kick some #$%^@!

What? Snow? No Way!

It's January 19, 2009, only in the 30's today in SC and the Weather Channel is calling for possbile 2-5" of snow tonight! Yeeccch, yes I'm a sissy.

We should be planning our turkey hunts, not sweeping snow.

Speaking of turkey hunts, our 2 year old grandson really loved his daddy's Christmas present of various turkey calls. He was the only one to get a sound out of the mouth call.

Our youngest and her spouse got a new min pin puppy for Christmas. His name is Majestic Red Ruger---yep, AKC and all. You'd think with a pedigree like that he would be more fastidious about the 'training'! Good thing we have tile floors:).
Ruger is now about 15 weeks old and already bigger than the three year old 'Colt' (other min pin). They are so cute wrestling in a basket chair.

The cats can still whip both of them though!

Have you seen the information regarding the Ammunition Accountability Act? Scary stuff, that, they (gov) is trying to 'register' ammunition. Looks like they don't have to take away guns if they can control/limit/whatever the ammo. Can anyone say 'black market'???

Google the name and see what you think. I am shocked that SC is on the list of the first states to attempt this legislation.

More later,
